Blackmon Tutoring
Home / About

A tutoring company built to be accessible, not exclusive.

Blackmon Tutoring is a nationally recognized in-home and virtual tutoring company. We match every student with a tutor based on their individual needs and qualifications, then build sessions around classroom curriculum, study skills, and test preparation together.

Who we are

One tutor, matched to one student, for the whole program.

We work with students from kindergarten through college, across every subject, including test preparation and foreign languages. Rather than assigning whoever is available, we match tutors to students based on individual needs, learning style, and the qualifications the subject actually requires.

Every tutor on our team holds a bachelor's or master's degree. Many are certified classroom teachers, and several specialize in working with students who have learning disabilities such as dyslexia and ADHD.

Meet the founder

Jordan Blackmon

Founder, Blackmon Tutoring

Jordan has spent more than five years in education. He holds a bachelor's degree from Houston Baptist University and a master's degree from William Carey University, where he specialized in education for students with learning disabilities. Before that, he was a dual-sport athlete and played professional baseball.

That combination, an athlete's discipline and a specialist's understanding of how differently students learn, shapes how Blackmon Tutoring is run: tutors are matched to the student in front of them, not the other way around.

“Although I performed well in school, I didn't find it enjoyable.”

“Education is crucial, and while investing in it is essential, it shouldn't be a burden.”

What we believe

Accessible by design, not by accident.

Jordan started Blackmon Tutoring to make tutoring accessible across all demographics, not to chase the highest-margin families. These are the values that comes from.

The right tutor, every time

We match on individual needs and qualifications first, so a student never ends up with whoever happened to be free.

Affordable and accessible

Good tutoring shouldn't be reserved for families who can pay the most. Accessibility is a design goal, not an afterthought.

Built for different learners

Several of our tutors specialize in dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning differences, so support is specific, not generic.

A real connection

Diverse tutor backgrounds mean we can usually find someone a student actually relates to, not just a qualified stranger.

Who tutors your student

Our tutors come from every kind of background.

We deliberately don't hire one type of tutor. A wider range of backgrounds means a wider range of students find someone they connect with. Think you'd be a good fit? Become an instructor.

1

Former athletes

Tutors who know what it's like to balance practice, travel, and a full course load.

2

Tutors with learning disabilities themselves

Some of our tutors have dyslexia or ADHD themselves, and teach from that experience directly.

3

Homeschooled graduates

Tutors who learned outside a traditional classroom and can meet students where they are.

4

Returning students

Tutors who went back to school as adults, and remember exactly how that felt.
